Director Embedded Design Firmware

Description:

The candidate will be responsible for working with the systems team to design, implement, and test novel wireless DSP algorithms on FPGA and/or custom ASIC platforms. The engineer will be part of a small team and participate in systems definition as well as be responsible for the implementation of complex algorithms sitting between IQ baseband samples at one end and radio interfaces at the other. They will help define how algorithms should be implemented (hardware vs. software). The engineer will implement blocks including custom filters, radio control interfaces, other DSP computation blocks. The ideal candidate will work well with the system architects, contribute to the overall design of the digital logic, and collaborate with mixed-signal/RF as well as embedded software engineers.

Required skills:

· BS/MTech or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering

· Minimum of 10 years’ experience, 10 years preferred in embedded design, integration and test of FPGA implementation in aerospace, medical, or automotive industries

· Proficiency in FPGA modeling/simulation/development/design in VHDL

· Knowledge of the C/C++ software languages, knowledge of other programming languages a plus

· Familiar with most of the following: Verilog, Altera, Xilinx, Actel, ModelSim and Test Bench

· Working knowledge of circuit design and layout techniques, including analog, digital, programmable logic and micro-controller technologies

· Experience with product development cycle, including project deliverable timing, work flow and gate reviews

Desired Skills:

· Experience in scripting languages such as Python and TCL

· Experience with high speed design (examples include DDR3, SERDES, Gigabit Transcievers, PCIe. etc)

Desired Aptitudes:

· Ability to work in a team and independently

· Ability to adapt to a diverse customer base and willingness to undertake periodic local travel to customer sites

· Aptitude for learning new technologies and applications

· Good writing, verbal and interpersonal communication skills

· Competent in developing solutions as well as identifying problems

· Knowledge of production processes to ensure quality and robustness
